VIENNA, VA-- Home Properties, Inc. has announced its newly constructed apartment community, The Courts at Huntington Station in Alexandria, Virginia, has been presented a Land Conservation Award by the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services.

Slated to open for apartment rentals in April 2010, The Courts at Huntington Station has been honored by Fairfax County, in cooperation with the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District and the Fairfax Tree Commission, for its diligent efforts to promote best practices in both erosion prevention and sedimentation control throughout the construction process. The Home Properties apartment community was nominated by the county's construction site inspector and presented with the award following a comprehensive site tour by county officials.

"Home Properties built The Courts at Huntington Station with the intent of remaining good stewards of the existing environment," said Donald R. Hague, Senior Vice President of Development for Home Properties. "We are avoiding any damage to surrounding natural elements, preventing erosion and continually reaching out to our neighbors - assuring them their quality of life will not be disturbed by this project."

A commitment to creating environmentally-friendly apartment communities aligns with Home Properties' proven track record of creating value in multifamily rental housing.

"This Land Conservation Award clearly recognizes the fact that Home Properties continues to take steps far beyond what county codes require. We strive to be environmentally conscious, cognizant of the needs of our renters and our neighbors," explained Hague.
