Networking at Tech CityOn October 28, more than 200 real estate professionals from New York City and the Tri-State region braved an all-day rainstorm to attend the first annual Hudson Valley Green Real Estate Development Conference, held at TechCity, in Kingston, NY. Sponsored by ScheinMedia, the conference hosted six panel discussions on major topics in sustainable building: residential development; finding, training, and educating qualified employees; economic development; commercial and industrial development; architecture, design, and planning; and finance. Scenic Hudson President Ned Sullivan opened the conference by describing sustainable projects both underway and upcoming, concluding, “We’re going to succeed by collaborating.” This idea was borne out by keynote speaker Adolph Everett, leader of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Team, who described his team’s partnerships with developers and municipalities to keep projects’ environmental impact low. Several networking sessions encouraged attendees to forge new relationships and build contacts within the Hudson Valley’s growing green and sustainable real estate and development community.
